Google has expanded access to its SynthID Detector, allowing users to check digital media for invisible watermarks associated with AI-generated content. The tool was previously aimed at media professionals but is now available globally in English. It supports watermarks created by Google and participating AI companies, including OpenAI, Nvidia and Kakao, with Apple support coming soon. Google introduced SynthID in 2023 and says it has watermarked more than 180 billion images and videos, as well as 240,000 years' worth of audio.

Anthropic has launched Claude for Google Workspace in public beta, bringing the AI assistant to Google Docs, Sheets and Slides. Google has increased the price of the Pixel 10a in India and global markets. The handset was launched earlier this year as the latest affordable entry point into the Pixel 10 lineup. Its price has now been hiked by Rs. 6,000. The price revision is not limited to India; Google has also hiked the Pixel 10a's price in the US and other markets. The development comes amidst soaring prices of RAM and storage components as demand for AI data centres keeps rising.

Google launched the Pixel 11 series just a few months ago, and rumours about its potential successor have already begun surfacing. Google is initially testing Gemini 4 Argon with cybersecurity professionals through its Fairwind Program. The model has a 1-million-token output limit, compared with 64,000 previously, and Google reports scores of 77.9 percent on DeepSWE v1.1 and 91.7 percent on LVBench. Argon has also been used internally for projects involving quantum computing and codebase migrations. In cybersecurity testing, it scored 68 percent on CWE-bench v1. Google Fitbit Air has been launched in India, the company announced on Wednesday. The new fitness tracker will go on sale in the country on October 2. The Google Fitbit Air will be offered in four colour options, namely Obsidian, Berry, Lavender and Fog. The company is also offering a three-month trial of Google Health Premium to provide access to Google Health Coach tools and features. Moreover, the Google Pixel 11a is shown to feature an LED flash next to the camera island. On the front, it could sport a flat display, surrounded by relatively thick bezels. A centred hole-punch display cutout appears at the top of the screen, which might house the selfie camera. The power button and volume controls could be placed on the right side of the phone. Meanwhile, a USB Type-C port, speaker grille, and a microphone cutout appear on the bottom.

Google's Android Dev Summit returns on October 28 to October 29, 2026, after a four-year gap. The event will cover Android 18. This exclusive in-person event for select professional Android developers will take place at Google's Event Centre at Bay View in Mountain View, California. Gmail is rolling out a Copy code button for two-factor authentication emails. The new feature is available on both Android and iOS. The update is said to be appearing in Gmail for Android version 2026.09.07.x and Gmail for iOS version 6.0.260907. It is currently not available in Gmail on the web. The pill-shaped Copy code button is shown under the subject line alongside the email preview.

Google’s Gemini model reportedly accessed the internet and hacked other companies during a test of its cybersecurity capabilities. The incidents happened during cybersecurity testing by Irregular. In one case, Gemini guessed passwords until it gained access; in the other two, it found credentials in a public repository. Google chose not to publicly disclose the hacks, claiming that no harm was caused to the target companies.

All three models appear to have a slim build and a range of ports. Google unveiled the Googlebook laptop lineup in May. The company recently confirmed that Googlebook pre-orders begin on September 21.

Dell XPS Googlebook name has been spotted in the Product Carbon Footprint report for September 2026 on the company's website with the model number DX13267, seemingly confirming that Dell's first Googlebook model will be launched soon in select global markets as part of the XPS laptop lineup. Apart from this, the Product Carbon Footprint report also reveals that the Dell XPS Googlebook will be equipped with a 13.4-inch display. The laptop will also weigh about 1.1kg and have a product lifetime of four years.

Google has fixed an issue that affected a limited number of Google Pixel phones. The company said that there are “indications that CVE-2026-58704 may be under limited, targeted exploitation”. The attackers used a vulnerability related to the cellular modem that granted remote access to the Pixel phones. “In the cellular modem, there is a possible permission bypass due to a logic error in the code”, according to the recently issued advisory warning users. The zero-click exploit does not require Google Pixel phone users to take any action.

Google has rolled out a new Android transfer system that lets compatible password managers exchange passwords and passkeys directly. Among the notable announcements is the expansion of the Gemini integration to Find Hub. Meanwhile, Android 17 has a new Motion Assist feature that can help reduce motion sickness when using phone in a moving vehicle. Other notable features include Guided vision though Gemini Live, Google Keep integration in the Messages app, and custom chat themes with different backgrounds.

Google Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro, Pixel 11 Pro XL, and Pixel 11 Pro Fold do not support the ARM Memory Tagging Extension (MTE) security feature, the GarpheneOS Foundation said in a social media post. Hence, the company was unable to complete the port for its OS for the Google Pixel 11 series. However, it did manage to build only a partial port of GrapheneOS for the Google Pixel 11 series after a week’s work. The foundation said that Google is not offering MTE support in software, firmware, and “near certainly hardware” of the Pixel 11 series “to save money”.

Google announced that starting in February 2027, apps and games must meet their respective bad behaviour thresholds for Memory usage, Bitmap memory usage and DEX code optimisation. Apps and games that do not meet these thresholds may see reduced app visibility and publishing capabilities on Google Play. The company said that it will provide additional details later this year.

YouTube has expanded its Shopping Affiliate Program by adding Amazon, allowing eligible creators in the US to tag products directly in their content. The feature supports Shorts, long-form videos and livestreams, with creators able to select products through YouTube Studio. They can also enable automatic product tagging for eligible uploads. Amazon product sales can generate commissions, while YouTube provides performance and earnings information through Studio Analytics. The integration also supports eligible international purchases through local merchant matching where available.

Google is expanding AI Mode with a new set of travel-focused features. With the latest update, users can ask AI Mode to track flight prices. The flight price tracking feature in AI Mode is now available across more than 180 countries and territories worldwide. Google is also expanding AI Mode with the ability to show flight and hotel prices in points or miles. It has also introduced hotel booking through AI Mode in Search.

Google’s latest Gemini Omni model adds several controls aimed at making AI video generation easier to refine before final rendering. The Fitbit Air Special Edition Pokémon Sleep brings sleep tracking and Pokémon-themed features together in a wearable designed for overnight use. It records sleep stages and duration through the Google Health app, with the data feeding into Pokémon Sleep through Health Connect or Apple Health. Players can use their sleep data to encounter Pokémon, increase Snorlax's Strength and discover different sleep styles. The special edition comes in Sleepy Blue with a Sleeping Pikachu print and includes a three-month Google Health Premium trial.
